Have you ever heard of the Solar Wind Sherpas?

This group of solar scientists, led by Shadia Habbal, has traveled to the ends of the Earth to observe total solar eclipses. These are the rare moments when the Moon completely blocks the Sun, temporarily turning day into night. Through their observations, the Solar Wind Sherpas have made some surprising discoveries about the Sun’s wind and its outer atmosphere – the corona. This wispy layer is only fully visible during an eclipse. The work of the Solar Wind Sherpas is helping us to better understand our universe and the celestial bodies that inhabit it.
